TED AGOOS CO-FOUNDED AGOOS/LOVERA ARCHITECTS, NOW STUDIO AGOOS LOVERA, WITH JORGE LOVERA IN 1983.  OVER THE PAST THIRTY-FIVE YEARS HE HAS BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR A WIDE RANGE OF AWARD-WINNING RESIDENTIAL, COMMERCIAL, CIVIC, AND EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS, AND BEEN INVOLVED WITH NUMEROUS NON-PROFIT BOARDS, TASK FORCES, AND OTHER CIVIC INITIATIVES.  

IN 2013, TED COMPLETED THE PHASED TRANSITION OF STUDIO AGOOS LOVERA TO SECOND-GENERATION PARTNERS AND FORMED AGOOS ARCHITECTURE+DESIGN.  SINCE THEN, TED HAS TAKEN ON PROJECTS INDEPENDENTLY, AND HAS ALSO FORMED STRATEGIC ALLIANCES WITH VARIOUS COLLEAGUES TO TACKLE LARGER ASSIGNMENTS.

TED'S CURRENT ASSIGNMENTS INCLUDE:

SCHUYKILL RIVER PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE:  A NEW PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE BRIDGE HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO ALLOW THE SCHUYKILL BANKS TRAIL TO CROSS THE SCHUYKILL RIVER TO CONNECT CENTER CITY PHILADELPHIA TO BARTRAM'S GARDEN AND BEYOND ON THE WEST BANK.  AMMANN & WHITNEY (BERGER) IS THE PRIME CONSULTANT.  TED ALSO COLLABORATED WITH LIGHTING DESIGNER CLAUDIA LIBRETT OF ATELIER 521 ON A DRAMATIC LIGHTING DESIGN WHICH WILL ENHANCE THE NEW STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS.  CONSTRUCTION IS UNDERWAY AND EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETE IN 2019.

SOUTHWEST LEADERSHIP ACADEMY CHARTER SCHOOL:  TED AND CB DEVELOPMENT SERVICES (CBDSI)  COLLABORATED ON AN EVALUATION OF FOUR POTENTIAL SITES FOR A NEW 80,000 SF, 1,000 STUDENT K-8 SCHOOL FOR THE HIGHLY-REGARDED CHARTER SCHOOL, WHICH CURRENTLY HAS 500 STUDENTS IN A LEASED FACILITY.  FOLLOWING THE EVALUATION, TED AND METCALFE ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN WERE SUBSEQUENTLY SELECTED TO DESIGN THE NEW SCHOOL ON THE SELECTED SITE ADJACENT TO COBBS CREEK PARK IN SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA.    DEMOLITION AND SITE PREPARATION ARE COMPLETE. CONSTRUCTION WILL START IN JANUARY 2020 AND BE COMPLETE FOR FALL 2021.  CBDSI IS THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.

EASTERN TOWER  CONSULTING:  TED ADVISED PHILADELPHIA CHINATOWN DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (PCDC) DURING GMP NEGOTIATIONS  FOR A NEW TWENTY-ONE STORY APARTMENT BUILDING WITH A COMMUNITY CENTER AND RETAIL IN CENTER CITY PHILADELPHIA.   HE IS REPRESENTING PCDC DURING CONSTRUCTION, WHICH WILL BE COMPLETE IN MAY 2019.  HUNTER ROBERTS CONSTRUCTION  GROUP IS THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER, AND JNA CAPITAL IS DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANT.

J2 DESIGN AND EXIT DESIGN STUDIOS:  TED IS THE ARCHITECT FOR THE ADAPTIVE REUSE OF A FOUR-STORY, 15,000SF VACANT WAREHOUSE IN NORTHERN LIBERTIES FOR OFFICE SPACE FOR TWO AFFILIATED DESIGN FIRMS.  CONSTRUCTION WAS SUBSTANTIALLY COMPLETED IN NOVEMBER 2018, J2 AND EXIT HAVE MOVED IN, AND THE PUNCH LIST IS BEING COMPLETED.

MARKET SQUARE VILLAGE:  TED IS WORKING WITH DEVELOPER PAUL SINGH ON A NEW 25,000 SF SHOPPING CENTER WITH OFFICE SPACE ON THE SECOND FLOOR IN MILLBOURNE, PA.  DEMOLITION AND SITE PREPARATION ARE UNDERWAY AND CONSTRUCTION WILL PROCEED IN EARLY 2019.

PHILADELPHIA BOARD OF BUILDING STANDARDS:  TED HAS SERVED ON THE BOARD SINCE 2001, REVIEWING BUILDING CODE VARIANCES.

ASSIGNMENTS TED HAS COMPLETED SINCE ESTABLISHING AGOOS ARCHITECTURE+DESIGN INCLUDE:

THE FIREHOUSE AT BRANDYWINE WORKSHOP AND ARCHIVES:  TED WAS THE ARCHITECT FOR THE ADAPTIVE REUSE OF A FOUR-STORY HISTORIC FIREHOUSE HOUSING A RETAIL SPACE ON THE GROUND FLOOR, AN ART GALLERY AND EVENT SPACE ON THE SECOND FLOOR AND 1,800SF LIVE/WORK APARTMENTS ON THE TWO UPPER FLOORS, CONSTRUCTION WAS COMPLETED IN OCTOBER 2017.  CATALYST CONSULTING WAS THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE AND SB CONRAD WAS THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP SCHOOL: TED WAS A DESIGN CONSULTANT TO METCALFE ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN FOR A NEW 200 STUDENT PRE-K THRU 5 INDEPENDENT SCHOOL IN A 60,000 SF FORMER WAREHOUSE BUILDING IN NORTH PHILADELPHIA.  THE SCHOOL IS CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND SCHEDULED TO OPEN IN SEPTEMBER 2017.

DOWELL RESIDENCE AND STUDIO:  THE NEW 5,000SF STRUCTURE INCLUDES A TWO-STORY RESIDENCE AND A DOUBLE-HEIGHT ART STUDIO FOR A PROFESSOR EMERITUS AT TEMPLE UNIVERSITY'S TYLER SCHOOL OF ART.  CONSTRUCTION WAS COMPLETED IN SEPTEMBER, 2016.

QUEEN VILLAGE TOWNHOUSE RENOVATIONS:  TED WAS THE ARCHITECT FOR THE RENOVATION OF A FOUR-STORY ROWHOME, COLLABORATING WITH INTERIOR DESIGNER JANET STRUCKELL, OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE HALLOWELL CONSTRUCTION, AND THE CLIENTS.  CONSTRUCTION WAS COMPLETED IN 2015.

LYNNEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PLANNING STUDY:  TED WORKED WITH CBDSI TO DEVELOP OPTIONS FOR EXPANSION OF THE EXISTING 600 STUDENT K THRU 5 SCHOOL FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, INCLUDING A NEW CONSTRUCTION OPTION AND A RENOVATION/ADDITIONS OPTION.  THE STUDY WAS COMPLETED IN OCTOBER, 2017.

SCHOOL DISTRICT OF HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP MASTER PLAN:  TED ASSISTED CB DEVELOPMENT SERVICES (CBDSI) WITH AN EVALUATION OF THREE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND OTHER FACILITIES, EXPLORING OPTIONS FOR ADDING ADDITIONAL CLASSROOM SPACE TO EACH, AND PRIORITIZING DEFERRED MAINTENANCE WORK AND ENERGY UPGRADES.

HUB3939 CONSTRUCTION PHASE CONSULTING:  TED ADVISED JNA CAPITAL DURING THE FIFTEEN MONTH CONSTRUCTION PHASE FOR A NEW SEVEN-STORY 65 UNIT APARTMENT BUILDING WITH TWO FLOORS OF RETAIL IN UNIVERSITY CITY.  INTECH CONSTRUCTION WAS THE DESIGN-BUILD CONTRACTOR.  CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE AND THE BUILDING IS FULLY OCCUPIED.

GIAQUINTO RESIDENCE ADDITION/RENOVATION:   CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE ON THE REBUILDING OF A FIRE-DAMAGED SINGLE-FAMILY HOUSE IN NORWOOD, PA.  THE LAYOUTS WERE  RECONFIGURED AND A SECOND FLOOR ADDITION PROVIDES A NEW FAMILY ROOM, AN SECOND FULL BATH, AND EXPANDED BEDROOMS.  ALL WINDOWS, SIDING, ROOFING, INTERIOR FINISHES, FIXTURES AND APPLIANCES HAVE BEEN REPLACED.  FINBARR O'KANE WAS THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR.
